Are you looking for your next rewarding challenge? Colne ward, the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit within the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, is looking to recruit an Education Facilitator with a passion, to support our growing nursing team.


Our Centre cares for patients following Cardiothoracic surgery as well as those undergoing cardiology procedures with a multidisciplinary team approach to caring for our patients which includes nurses, medical staff, physiotherapists, dietitians and HCA's.


As an Education Facilitator you will be required to work as a skilled member of the Education Team for Colne Ward facilitating and developing learning for all grades of staff within the Cardiothoracic Critical Care environment and promoting evidence based practice to meet the needs of patients.


You will also be required to work as part of the Cardiothoracic Critical Care team in clinical practice on a regular basis acting as an effective role model for best practice.

You will work with learners providing coaching, supervision, teaching and assessment of competence.


You will consolidate and maintain good managerial and organisational skills and will lead and assist with the provision of an environment conducive to the education of all staff.

The post holder will offer support, guidance and teaching to all members of the critical care team.


You will provide clinical advice, guidance and support for unit staff while continuing to develop your own specialist clinical skills, especially in Cardiothoracic Critical Care, in response to service requirements.

The role and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Undertaking regular clinical teaching and supporting staff in achieving the targets identified within their own personal development plans.


Working alongside all grades of staff in the clinical area supporting their knowledge and development and providing feedback on their performance.

Assist in implementation of induction programmes, mentorship, preceptorship and clinical supervision as required

Assist in the development and organisation of both pre and post-registered students on placement in the Cardiothoracic Critical Care.

Participate in the recruitment, selection, appraisal and development programme for junior colleagues.

Contribute to the review of policies and procedures related to specialty, setting standards of care in the unit.

Assist in the development and coordination of planned educational programmes and opportunities for all staff.

Assist in the development of clinical competencies, monitor completion of these and assist in the assessment process

Regularly participate in the design and delivery of informal and formal multidisciplinary teaching programmes

Assist in the maintenance of comprehensive training records for staff and provide reports as required.
