Description
An exciting opportunity to join our experienced team in a recently formed privately owned M&E Group bringing together in excess of 150+ years experience.
Higgins and GR Bayley's, both reputable companies, each established over 55 years, recently merged to form a medium sized M&E Contractor in the North West working across a diverse range of sectors including health care, education, pharmaceutical, commercial, and domestic.
The Role
This is a hands-on role with a responsibility for the production of mechanical tenders for both pre-designed and design & construct projects along with estimating of small works.
The role is to receive client enquiries, organise or complete the required surveys and prepare detailed estimates, tenders and quotations to ensure that opportunities are being accurately estimated competitively, successfully and profitably.
Using relevant industry experience, you will be expected to help develop and refine the estimation process to improve efficiency, clarity, and accuracy while reducing overall costs along with build relationships with new and existing clients.
Report on ongoing performance by gathering feedback from clients on submitted tenders/quotes, highlighting areas of concern and providing solutions to help overcome these areas.
Negotiating preferential rates with suppliers to ensure best prices are always achieved.
Management of other estimators in your section including workload, deadlines, weekly updates etc.
Assist in the training and development of juniors estimators.
Experience:
Experience with estimating mechanical services.
Engineering/Installer background would be ideal.
Proven track record in the Mechanical services industry.
Must have sound knowledge of all mechanical systems including commercial and domestic plumbing and heating, natural and LPG Gas.
Up to date relevant knowledge of Building legislation, Gas Regulations, Water Regulations, H&S at Work Act.
Experience in specialist gas, oil and catering gases would be beneficial but not essential.
Able to read and understand tender drawings and specifications.
Contracts and Project Management experience would be beneficial.
SimPro experience would be advantageous.
Electrical knowledge would be beneficial but not essential.
Skills and abilities:
Confident oral and written communication skills.
IT proficient in all key Office products, including Excel and comfortable working in an office environment.
High numeracy levels & commercial awareness a must alongside an eye for finer details.
Comfortable working amongst a team yet equally as driven when working alone.
Able to communicate politely and professionally at all levels, internally and with customers.
Effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines.
Good organisational skills and able to manage workload.
Ability to negotiate and influence.
Mentor and support others.
Possess sound management skills.
Capable of remaining focused and calm during busy periods.
Receptive and adaptable to change.
