Description

Global Education and Development CIC (GED)
We seek two enthusiastic Holiday Club Leaders.

This is a pilot programme in the Oxford area for the 2023 summer half term holidays with the aim of providing an extended programme during the 2023 summer holidays.

GED's sister company, Education Globale et Développement asbl, has over 20 years of experience in delivering activities and education which promote peace, tolerance, and greater understanding in Belgium and France.

We wish to bring our experience and guiding philosophies to the UK.

GED's Guiding Principles

  • Provision of Peace and Values education programmes to help children and young people develop and better understand the importance of inner peace and good will towards others; and to develop approaches and skills to enable them to build more harmonious relationships with peers, families, and society.
  • To create a safe environment where children learn how to form healthy relationships and life skills, such as teamwork, active listening, selfdiscipline, and confidence.
  • To address bullying and other social issues by helping young people to better understand their own emotions and feelings, nurture empathy, and how to become peacemakers.
  • To help migrant families and individuals to socially integrate, grow, become empowered, and contribute to their new communities.
  • To promote community cohesion by targeting conscious and unconscious biases and prejudices people might hold toward one another.
  • Development and provision of Global Citizenship programmes to enhance a more global identity within individuals and greater appreciation of diversity; and to help all people develop an appreciation of service to the community, society, and all humanity.

Day Programmes
Our pilot programme focuses more upon proving fun activities for children which are underpinned by GED's Guiding Principles. We anticipate providing a more formal programme for the 2023 summer holidays.

Activities vary over days so that children attending multiple days remain engaged.

Directed activities will be in one of two areas:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Performance
There are two rooms available; each will cater for separate age groups. An outdoor space is available too.

Activities make use of both indoor and outdoor spaces, but will be flexible enough to be hosted indoors in case of poor weather.

Duration
This is a temporary position. You should be available for the week of Monday 29 May through to Friday 2 June. The precise (number of) days are to be confirmed.

Hours
Start is at 8am, and close is at 6pm.

Activities will commence at 9:15am and finish at 4:45am, with about an hour for lunch, and at least two other shorter breaks.
