Description

Peri-operative care is the comprehensive management of patients before, during and after surgery, from the moment surgery is contemplated through to recovery and long-term follow-up.


There is a major emphasis on converting our waiting lists to preparation lists, i.e getting patients ready for surgery by encouraging lifestyle changes and health promotion including optimisation of long term health conditions.


Our aim is to provide patients with significant improvement in the quality of the service available to them in terms of both outcomes and experience.

The postholder will work as part of the Peri-operative Service team to support the delivery of this quality improvement initiative across Somerset.

Ideally, the postholder will have an understanding of quality improvement methodology to support the development of this new service.


The post holder will act as an ambassador for the organisation, exercising initiative in responding to requests for information or requiring action.
