Exciting opportunities are being developed to work as a Catering Porter within the Catering Department at Dorset County Hospital.


To safely transport patient food between the kitchen and wards via the Burlodge Hotlock trollies and transportation tug, including delivery of provisions to wards, maintaining stock levels with the wards (food and consumable storage cupboards, and fridges) and other associated tasks commensurate of the role.


To provide support to the Catering Assistants by; undertaking routine cleaning duties, assisting service of patient meals production line, operation of the central dishwasher, pot wash and cleaning main kitchen as required.

As a Catering Porter within the Catering Department, you will provide a valued service to the Hospital in the central service of patient meals and ensuring that the Trust maintains its high standards of cleanliness, food safety & hygiene.


Safely deliver patient's meals in time to the wards throughout the Hospital, return Hotlock trollies to the kitchen, empty and thoroughly clean and sanitise trollies to expected high standards after every service, Breakfast, Lunch and Supper.

Working closely with the Catering and Stores Admin teams in delivering and maintaining Ward provision stock levels, (i.e. milk, bread, sandwiches, drinks, Etc.) ensuring, food and drink is; in date, at the correct stock levels and stored appropriately, including consumables, cutlery and drinking vessels.


In between Hot lock trolley duties you will support the Catering Assistants with the central patient meal service and the operation of the central dishwashing process, working as part of a team in the mechanical washing of patients, staff and visitor's crockery and cutlery, and other general cleaning duties within all areas of the catering environment.
