Description

As a Through Life Support Senior Technical Specialist in Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) or the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) you will be able to learn, build and develop your Integrated Logistic Support/Integrated Product Support (ILS/IPS) and asset lifecycle management skills and tools.

We have vacancies in the Through Life Support professional disciplines of:

  • Equipment Support (ES)
  • You will be contributing to managing the In-service asset lifecycle management, including upkeeping and updating the forward and depth maintenance support resources and technical information for an equipment/product, using the ILS/IPS methodology and toolkit.
  • Integrated Logistic Support (ILS)
  • Contributing to the design and development of the ILS/IPS programme/project(s) for procuring new reliable, maintainable, sustainable, and whole life cost affordable supportable equipment/products or conducting upgrades to existing equipment/products.

These roles are based in our offices in Bristol and in-office attendance will be expected as required.


Due to security requirements, some of these posts are reserved for Sole UK Nationals only and some will require more in-depth security checks (Developed Vetting).


Please note that salary offers above the £32,500 - £35,000 range will only be made based on exceptional performance in interview.


About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the configuration and governance control management of technical information and documentation of an equipment/product.
  • Managing obsolescence risks and mitigations and determining the most cost effective throughlife resolution.
  • Contributing to support analysis for informing the support design, as part of ensuring the right support solution is in place.
  • Providing asset management system throughlife upkeep and update for equipment/product system status, collaborating with engineering and supply chain colleagues to ensure maintenance and asset records are accurate and current.
  • Contributing to the production and performance monitoring progress of the ILS programme and associated ILS Artefacts.
  • Providing support in the management of the team, which can include, providing coaching, training, mentoring to junior staff, internal or external stakeholders and cross functional colleagues.
  • Contributing to procuring the right equipment/product and/or contributes to Post Design System modifications and updates.
  • Managing support stakeholders, customer, and suppliers by coordinating and tracking support solution progress to agreed milestone(s) and target(s).

Person specification

  • Ability to investigate data/information and solve problems.
  • Experience in producing reports/findings for identifying trends/issues for communicating recommendations.
  • Evidence of working collaboratively with others in a team or part of a stakeholder group.
  • Previous experience either working in a; logistic/equipment/product/asset management, engineering, maintenance environment, or have a related qualification/study/interest.
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the in-service engineering asset management system requirements.
