The Role


The following is a brief outline of the roles and responsibilities required but are not limited to the Group Health & Safety Advisor.

You are working for the Briggs and Forrester Group Ltd and are employed as such by Briggs & Forrester (Holdings) Ltd, but your duties will extend to that of the Briggs & Forrester Group Ltd including the following companies:

  • Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services Ltd
  • Briggs & Forrester (Special Projects) Ltd
  • Briggs & Forrester (Living) Ltd
  • Building Services Management Ltd


In the execution of your duties as a Group Safety Advisor you may be required to carry out tasks or site inspections for any of the above operating companies and as such will also be required to undertake an element of travel to other areas and regions of the country during your duties as and when required.


As this is a mobile role, you will be required to hold a full clean UK driving Licence and be ideally placed and willing to travel between the following locations - Bristol, Oxford and Wales.

Although, from time to time you may be expected to travel to other locations within the UK as and when required.

Your direct line of reporting will be to the Group Regional Health & Safety Manager.

The following roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Take personal ownership of a section of the work, to plan and organise your own schedule of planned visits.
  • Work under own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Assist in developing H&S cultural change within the existing business and assist in the continued development of the Groups safety management systems.
  • Communicate at all levels.
  • Deliver on site safety talks to both managerial and operational personnel.
  • Carry out full site safety inspections.
  • Record findings, complete and issue full written reports as directed.
  • Liaise with client and subcontractor Safety Representatives.
  • Carry out accident / incident investigation as required.
  • Attend safety meetings, (Group, Individual Companies and Safety Committees) as required.
  • Issue sound and concise Health and Safety Advice to current legislative requirements as required.
In addition to the above you will also be required to carry out the following:

  • Integrate and contribute into the H&S team and work within the team when required, as you may be required to guide and support new staff.
  • Be able to make decisions that may not be readily accepted by others, while carrying out your duties.
  • Be always accountable while at work, liaise regularly with your line manager of your movements/whereabouts.
  • You must be prepared to change your plans at short notice if so directed.
  • You must be able to deliver the H&S message to all people, across a vast cross section of different characters and types.
  • Be keen to progress within the team, and to assist others when required to do so.
  • Be able to accept advice/direction from more senior members of staff and your line manager.


You may be requested at any time to attend training courses in order that your knowledge is kept current and in line with legislative requirements.

In addition to the above, you may also be required to attend site inspections or meetings etc. outside of your normal contracted operating hours and situated away from your immediate home location.

In this case the company shall reimburse any costs incurred accordingly but these must be approved prior by your Line Manager.


  • Requirements
  • NEBOSH construction qualified
  • Minimum of five years experience working in a similar industry.
  • Technical Membership or equivalent to a recognised body.
  • Hold a current valid CSCS card.
  • Hold or working toward other relative qualifications such as IPAF, PASMA licences.
  • First aid, fire marshal, manual handling, and face fit train the trainer held certificates are desirable but not essential.
  • Mobile role so must have clean driving license and be willing to travel
  • Be IT literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point Presentations etc.
