What does a Child Employment and Licensing Officer do at Hillingdon?


The functions of the Child Employment and Licensing Officer have recently been reviewed and updated to ensure Hillingdon provides a strong and reliable service that puts the safety of the children first.


In this role you will implement proactive measures to license and regulate Child Employment and Children in Performances in the Hillingdon ensuring safeguarding and welfare of children and young people underpins all decision-making.


You will lead the process of assessing, training and making decisions regarding suitability of individuals to be approved as licensed chaperones in Hillingdon, including approval as part of a renewal process.


You will be pro-active in ensuring that employers, parents, children and young people are aware of and supported to comply with the law and regulations governing child employment and entertainment.

About you

You will have a good understanding of working in partnership, negotiating and prioritising.


You will be innovative and creative with a willingness to explore new models of working to improve the outcomes for our children and families.

Moreover, you will be a highly motivated person who is able to build strong relationships to deliver the best possible outcomes for vulnerable people.


You will understand and share our passion for good outcomes for children and adults, for innovative, inclusive practice and for working in partnership with colleagues across the council and beyond.

You will have good writing skills and will be able to provide good quality reports.


How we'll support you
The salary for this role its Grade 6 and the role allows for flexible working and working from home.

The role includes some inspections to venues and thus may require a commitment to sometimes do some observations outside normal working hours or at weekend.
