Are you an experienced Design Engineer looking to step into a senior, managerial position?Have you got experience of managing a Design Office and a team of engineers? Do you have experience in design lifecycles, machine builds and delivering finished products to customers?

GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a successful Engineering company located in Worcestershire.

We are currently supporting their recruitment for an experienced Design Team Manager to join their team on a full-time permanent contract.


We are looking for an Design Team Leader who can demonstrate drive, energy, and enthusiasm with the ability to support the functional and projects teams within the business.

Our client specialises in bespoke machinery for production line solutions, developing automated electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical test systems.

Therefore, it is vital you can demonstrate experience of leading a multi-disciplinary team within mechanical and electrical software with a proven track record in engineering, to be considered.


Design Team Leader main duties:

  • You will be accountable for the Mechanical and Electrical build team, so you will need to have a full understanding of not only machine safety but the design lifecycle, machine build, how they work and be confident delivering finished projects to customers
  • Allocation of work and monitoring progress
  • Strict focus on achieving project timescales and milestones
  • Identifying threats to progress and resolving in a timely fashion
  • Reporting to the Directors and Head of Projects
  • Supporting the Project Management and Manufacturing teams
  • Fostering a collaborative, supportive team environment
  • Contributing to programme planning & budget reviews
  • Contribute to the constant improvement philosophy
  • Managing training and development of team members

Design Team Leader required skills and experience:

  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • mechanical, electrical and software.
  • A full understanding of machinery safety and the design lifecycle
  • Excellent communication.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Outstanding organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A focus on meeting project deadlines & budgets.
  • A proven track record in engineering machinery
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001
