We are currently recruiting two
Relief
Control Room Officers to join our team working on two local council contracts. These will be working within the Salford City Control Room and Rochdale Borough Councils Control Room.

Both roles required a valid CCTV License and you will be under-going NVPP Level 2 Police Vetting. Both control rooms use similar systems to allow us to cross train staff.


Hours:


  • 1 x 36 hours per week (Based in Salford) contract
  • 1 x Relief Role covering both sites

The Role:


  • To secure arrests and convictions through the post holders personal monitoring of CCTV cameras, taking actions as required including full operation of the camera's controls and the writing of witness statements.
  • To actively monitor a Police Airwaves radio, providing prompt and effective verbal communication with Greater Manchester Police.
  • To provide positive customer service when dealing with in person approaches by Police Officers, archiving CCTV footage as required and issuing evidential copies.
  • To liaise with fee paying customers, bringing to their prompt attention all activations received and requesting their prompt remedy of any on site system defects.
  • To provide an out of hours call handling service during low periods of call demand, typically midnight through to 8am, using personal judgement and problem solving skills to initiate a response as required.
  • To prioritise incoming calls on the City Council's Out of Hours Emergency Service telephone number, showing empathy to the caller and using effective communication skills to obtain and accurately record all relevant information.
  • To monitor the behaviour and staffing levels of the Councils appointed contractors, in particular the Councils contracted City Watch response staff, identifying any underperformance or contract none compliance issues and bringing these to the prompt attention of the Councils nominated Service Manager.
  • To facilitate out of hours access into SCC corporate buildings, typically during low periods of demand after midnight, verifying the identity and permissions of visitors as required.
  • To attend external training courses as required including SIA public space CCTV monitoring, Siemens Zen Grab, Bold Gemini alarm monitoring and Police Airwaves radio communication.
  • To obtain an SIA public space CCTV license (renewable every 3 years) and undertake enhanced security vetting by Greater Manchester Police on an annual basis.
  • To review crime pattern analysis and engage in regular dialogue with Greater Manchester Police, Registered Social Landlords, SCC Environmental Crime and ASB Teams for the purposes of ensuring an up to date knowledge of crime hotspots and an ability to monitor and respond to areas of greatest risk.
  • To provide supplementary support where required to Salford's bus lane enforcement service, reviewing, validating and rejecting contraventions in full accordance with the Code of Practice for Bus Lane Enforcement and the Transport Act 2000.
  • To carry out duties with full regard to Salford City Council's Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety and Community Strategy policies.
  • To operate in full compliance with the Data Protection and Human Rights Act, ensuring the safe storage and transmission of sensitive personal data.
  • To participate in effective shift handovers ensuring that staff taking over the shift are provided with all relevant information, including details of outstanding actions and jobs.
