Description

Intermediate Care beds provide 24-hour nursing care for a short period of time for individuals who are unable to manage at home as a result of a hospital admission e.g.

Orthopaedics condition or following a fall

In addition to the care provided by nursing staff, consultant geriatrician and general practitioners (GP's), a patient can also receive treatment from speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, psychiatric nurse specialists, occupational therapists (OTs) and dieticians, depending on their individual needs.

The team works closely together and develops a tailored care plan to re-able patients so they can maximize their independence.
