We are working with Lifespace who have an exciting opportunity available for a
Chief Executive Officer to join their team based in
Stratford Upon Avon.The role is a
permanent position, working between 32 to 40 hours per week offering a competitive salary of
£42,500 per annum full time equivalent.


Lifespace is a charity that supports young people's wellbeing with mentoring programmes, group activities, and leadership opportunities. Lifespace's vision is that all young people have the self-esteem, resilience, and confidence to thrive. Last year their staff and volunteers supported 555 amazing young people in schools, online, and in the community.


As the
Chief Executive Officer, you will lead on income generation and financial management and work closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees.

You will report on the charity's progress ensuring that objectives are met, and the charity remains compliant.


Key responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer:

  • Defining a clear strategic vision, identify opportunities for growth and ensuring that Lifespace is positioned to capitalise on these opportunities.
  • Overseeing the operational direction of Lifespace to ensure that it delivers high quality, effective and, above all, safe mentoring service provision for young people (918 years) across South Warwickshire.
  • Providing outstanding leadership to the core (employed) team, using the appropriate balance of encouragement, support, and challenge, in order to engage team members and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Inspiring and overseeing paid and volunteer mentors, ensuring they are fully trained, supervised, and supported to best represent Lifespace and provide high quality mentoring services for young people.
  • Managing the operational risk of the Trust in accordance with Charity Commission guidelines and in consideration of its key stakeholders, schools, mentors, mentees, parents, and funders.
  • Representing Lifespace in the wider community, building strong and sustainable working partnerships with key stakeholders and other relevant organisations.
  • Setting the culture from the top of the organisation and drive values and behaviours aligned to the culture and purpose of Lifespace.
  • Working closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees to ensure operational, financial and compliance objectives are met or exceeded.

Skills and experience of the ideal Chief Executive Officer:

  • Proven leadership experience; developing and executing strategic plans, operating within statutory and financial guidelines and directing teams to deliver exceptional results.
  • Current or recent experience in a CEO / senior leadership role in the third or related sector would be advantageous.
  • Operational experience of business planning, commissioning services and managing risk.
  • Experience of working with young people aged 7 to 1
  • Experience of the education sector, mental health and the emotional development of young people would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the range of services available for children and young people who require support e.g. Public, Private and Third sector and how these are evolving.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding of young people.
  • An inspiring and motivational leader who can develop, manage, motivate, and support a team of employees and volunteers.
  • Excellent commercial and financial skills including budget and target setting, monitoring KPI's and managing performance accordingly.
  • Able to utilise social media to engage with target audiences and a proven track record of doing so.
