Description

The role of the engineering planner/scheduler entails using their competencies and expertise in the planning, maintenance and safety fields to prepare and coordinate scheduled maintenance work and assist management in decision making.

Key responsibilities include optimising, preparing and scheduling the preventive, planned and remedial maintenance work to a minimum of one week in advance.

They must continuously seek to improve systems to optimise the planning and scheduling process.

Working with the Reliability Engineer to identify and rectify issues whilst improving the effectiveness of the engineering department and maintaining high standards within Health, Safety & Environment, Housekeeping, Performance, Waste, Communication and Continuous Improvement.

Effectively supporting the Engineering Manager and Engineering Team to meet output requirements in quality expectations, cost management and the delivery of key objectives and operational performance targets.


Manage and coordinate the engineering workload according to defined priorities, estimate labour and material resources required for each Work Order, organise and facilitate the weekly scheduling meetings.

Develop and maintain accuracy of historical CMMS (SAP) data for assigned equipment and facilitate the role of key systems user at site supporting the required skills of the team whilst representing the site in ongoing UK SAP Governance.

Maintain asset care plans, Bill of Materials, maintenance records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of engineering-related matters.

To continually develop an environment that promotes constructive involvement and engagement for the Engineering team. The engineering team is key to the success and continued improvement of site operations.

Health & Safety

  • To be accountable for own health & safety and that of the department whilst at work, operating in line with the company Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety procedures to enable a safe working environment.
  • To raise any unsafe acts seen immediately with individual(s) concerned and immediate reporting of health and safety incidents to management.
People Management

  • Provide all necessary instructions, tooling and parts for the maintenance tasks to be carried out by the maintainers.
  • Management of the Asset care program including engineering breakdowns and reporting the effectiveness of the team.
  • Coach individuals in the Work Management processes and support the team with queries and concerns to develop an environment of trust and support that will encourage engagement and individual development.
Service Management

  • Implement maintenance tactics to maintain asset health of the assigned equipment to company, OEM standards and guidelines.
  • Consider the availability of the workforce when scheduling.
  • Ensure the weekly schedule has the necessary commitment by all key stakeholders
  • Support the strategic development of the team and department to deliver the site's Business Plan in line with Divisional/Group initiatives.
Reporting

  • Maintain relevant maintenance performance measures in line with team and business requirements.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the preventative maintenance in relation to reducing downtime and waste, increasing productivity and quality whilst optimising cost.
  • Involvement in the review of the maintenance program and systems by developing measures for and tracking KPIs whilst working closely with the Reliability Engineer.
Preventative Maintenance

  • Constantly evaluate the asset tactics for all equipment working closely with the Reliability Engineer, engineering teams and plant crews.
  • Estimate labour and material resources required for each Work Order and elaborate the work plans (operational requirements, PTW etc.).
  • Work with the Engineering team to identify critical spares, servicing agreements and timeliness.
  • Review completed PPMs and Corrective WOs for followup work.
Communication

  • Interact and communicate regularly with Operations and Engineering teams at all business levels.
  • Participate in daily analysis meetings, conduct weekly schedule review meeting and produce weekly performance metrics
  • Produce a shortterm maintenance schedule of planned work for the assigned equipment to meet business needs and labour capacity
  • Ensure a professional line is presented at all times, managing site expectations as appropriate in line with the business priorities.
Continuous Improvement

  • Work with the Reliability Engineer, engineering team and others to improve cross
- functional relations and increase flexibility and efficiency in our services.
