Marketing Assistant

Our offices are based inside Delapre Abbey, a historic home on edge of Northampton town centre, set in acres stunning green space - perfect for a lunchtime amble.

Pilkington Communications is a supportive and flexible employer. We specialise in the Third Sector (charities, social enterprises, not for profit organisations) and offer PR and digital marketing services: public relations, media management, award submissions, copywriting, social media strategy, PR and marketing strategy and much more


Many, although not all, our clients are local, so we have a great mix of face to face and remote customer meetings.


We have won several awards in the last few years for the support we provide to charities and for our approach to training and mentoring and the training arm of our business is known as Turtle Academy.


About the Role


Working closely with the Director, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a small, encouraging, and creative team, be part of our ambitious strategy and to develop your skills.

Although experience is a bonus, it is not essential.

We are seeking someone that 'fits' with our team, and organisation - who is organised, has attention to detail, is happy to learn, to pitch in and loves making a difference and supporting our clients as much as we do.

If you don't have all the skills, but think you have the skills we are looking for in the 'Knowledge/ Experience Required section' below we can train you.

The responsibilities of this role may change as the business grows and new clients come on board.

There is the potential for the hours to increase and we can at times be flexible, to fit around personal and home commitments.


Marketing Assistant Responsibilities

Administration
Client reports
Media coverage collation
Some management of Director's diary
Client correspondence and management
Coordinate remote events.
A little office management
Meet and greet office visitors/ clients.
Coordinate internal and external meetings.
May occasionally be asked to take minutes and to collate action points at meetings.


Marketing
Social media scheduling
Basic design work for social media, websites, marketing materials
Enewsletter collation and mail-out
Management of monthly Turtle Talks (free 30-minute online marketing talks run by Pilkington Communications)
Operations
Coordinate remote activities.

Oversee any issues that may interrupt the smooth running of the organisation and seek to resolve them, raising the issues to management if appropriate.

Ensure team have the equipment and access they need to do their jobs effectively.
Maintain log of team training and personal training.
Management of Turtle Academy - bookings, invoicing, remote meetings and more


Marketing Assistant Requirements
Well-developed organisational, time-management and administrative skills. We value the ability to handle a busy, varied workload and to cope with interruptions and changes.

Great people skills, with an ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, in a variety of written and verbal formats.

Excellent grammar and attention to detail - you'll be comfortable with problem-solving and acting on your own initiative.
Willing to learn and take on a variety of tasks.

Ability to work calmly under pressure, meet set deadlines and pay meticulous attention to detail completing tasks fully, accurately and on time, prioritising where appropriate.

A basic understanding of social media and the different platforms
An eye for good design
A self-starter, motivation (there will be times when you are the only person in the office)
Confidence to pitch in and share ideas.
Ability to deal with confidential information or situations in an appropriate and sensitive manner.


A bonus - experience in:

Social media scheduling
Website management
An understanding of Canva - or other graphic design platforms
Familiar with how WordPress websites work
Familiar with the Eventbrite event booking platform
An understanding of GDPR

Location:
Northampton - Office based working with occasional travel
Contract Type: 12-month fixed term contract - with a view to being permanent

Hours:
Part Time (15 hours per week - potential to increase in future)


Salary:
£26,000-£28,000/ year pro rata (which equates to £10,400-£13,440/annum)
Benefits: 23 days holiday pro rata plus bank holidays, Up to two days paid leave for volunteer days, Some flexible working
