Academic Mentor


TimePlan are working with a number of Secondary Schools across North London who are looking for Academic Mentors and Learning Support Assistants to start ASAP.

This will be the perfect role for anyone looking for experience before embarking on a career inteaching.


As an Academic Mentor, you will work closely with teachers and other relevant staff to identify and address the needs of students who require additional help in numeracy and science.


Your primary responsibilities will include:

Small group work:

One-to-one support:

Revision lessons:

Additional support for those not in school
In addition to this, as an Academic Mentor you will be expected to:


  • Work with SLT in the school to identify which students need 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 support packages:

Identify learning gaps and assist in creating a tailored intervention programme for students

Deliver engaging sessions, to support a range of learning styles with clear Learning Objectives:

-
Manage behaviour of students:

-
differentiate sessions in line with students attainment, taking into account any barriers to learning or additional needs:

Derive measurable outcomes from each sessions to track progress:

Follow all safeguarding procedures:

-
To establish and maintain contact with families of students in need of additional support.
The right applicant for this Academic Mentor position will have:


  • 5+ GCSE's A
  • B, including English and Maths (essential):
-
Experience of working with students/ families to set short term goals for individual students and supporting students in achieving these (essential):

-
Experience of working within an educational environment or with young people (desired)
