Main Purpose of Post:


To ensure that children are safe, healthy and have opportunities to learn and develop within an inclusive nursery setting.

As a Nurture Practitioner you will be working in our Nurture Room at Life Bank Nursery


You will need to:


  • Model good practice in the offer of high-quality provision for children with SEND, ensuring EYFS and SEND Code of Practice requirements are met.
  • Comply with nursery policies and procedures for keeping children safe.
  • Work alongside the relevant designated person where a looked after child has SEND.
  • Communicate and develop strong working relationships with parents of children with SEND.
  • Work with the Nursery Manager to ensure that the setting meets its responsibilities under the Equality Act regarding reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.
  • Be responsible for a group of key children.
  • Ensure that records of children with SEND are kept up to date (EHCPs, Play Plans etc).
  • Teach either individuals or small groups of children within, or outside, the class supporting a graduated approach to providing SEND support.
  • Use specialist skills, such as Bucket Therapy, to engage children in developing social communication skills.
  • Deliver appropriate activities and adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of children.
  • Assist children with personal care/medical needs.
  • Have a commitment to continue to develop your CPD which may require training outside working hours.
  • Carry out, as necessary, any other duty deemed to be commensurate with the grade and status of the post and skills and experience of the post holder.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Level 3 or above in Childcare (required)
  • Level 2 or above SENCO Award (Ideal)
  • Specialist training relating to children with SEND (Ideal)
  • Paediatric First Aid (Ideal)
