What you need to know about the role


Your role will be to control, monitor and develop the safe, secure and timely operation of external transport services to export markets on behalf of British Steel.

To plan, operate and monitor the transport and shipping service for products, covering all aspects of the shipping process from order acknowledgement to delivery to customers


You will to control handling, loading, storage, protection and delivery of product to prevent damage or loss and maintain prime status in accordance with handling guidelines.

To co-ordinate and develop the cost effective distribution of finished steel products into export markets, controlling shipping costs against budget and plan, ensuring that AP transport costs are achieved or bettered.

Your role will be responsible for timely and accurate ship finalisation, document distribution and retention.

To ensure that any steel stocks held in export hubs or sites are controlled effectively and that all on forwarding arrangements meet customer requirements.

Teamwork, Knowledge and broad experience of transport operations and supply chain processes with specific knowledge of Long Products is preferred


What we need to know about you
We're looking for a team player who is detail oriented with a drive for results.


You should be educated to NVQ level or equivalent in a business or logistics discipline, a degree in business or logistics is desirable.

Process and product knowledge is required along with IT/Systems knowledge. The ability to build effective relationships through communication with customers and suppliers is crucial.
