Two days per week - 39 weeks per year

Term time plus INSET days


The Governors of La Sainte Union Secondary School wish to appoint a part time, permanent Librarian to manage and develop the school library as a caring and inclusive space stocked with a diverse range of materials devoted to the pursuit of knowledge and intellectual curiosity, reading for pleasure, and meeting the developmental needs of all ages and abilities.


  • Understand the role that reading has in supporting personal development and wellbeing.
  • Be able to enthuse young people to develop positive attitudes to reading and the pursuit of knowledge.
  • Have an uptodate knowledge of young adult and children's fiction and nonfiction.
  • Have a good knowledge of the literary canon.
  • Promote books and reading through literary events and celebration days.
  • Support teachers with the delivery of effective library lessons.
  • Be competent in their use of the library management system.
  • Deliver the effective use of Accelerated Reader for KS3 pupils.
  • Deliver established literacy intervention programmes.
  • Have experience of working with young people.
  • Have a commitment to equalities and be able to demonstrate how these policies could be carried out in all aspects of this post.
