Eleanor Hodson House is a small, friendly 32 bedroom Residential and Nursing Home set on the outskirts of the lovely village of Caerleon.

Our House is set among extensive grounds and gardens offering wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.

We are situated on the main transport links from Newport, which is only 3 miles away.

JOB TITLE:
Kitchen Assistant

REPORTING TO:
Chef/cook

JOB PURPOSE:

To assist in organising and controlling the efficient and economic production of quality of food within the allowed budget, whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate
Good communication skills
Team Player
Satisfactory DBS against the SOVA List (where applicable)

Desired:

Experience of food preparation for the relevant Service User group

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES

Food Preparation:

Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals.

Communication

Participate in Staff and Service User meetings as required.

Training & Development

Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.

Health & Safety

Wash up after meals. Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall cleaning of the kitchen area (and, where appropriate, the dining areas) is carried out effectively.
Ensure statutory Health and Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
Report immediately to the Manager or Person in Charge any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.
Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Home's Health and Safety policy, and Emergency Fire procedures.
Report to the Home Manager, or the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
Promote safe working practice in the Home.
Ensure daily/weekly cleaning is completed and signed.
Adhere to COSHH at all times.
