About you


You would ideally have prior experience of being a cook and you will be responsible for delivering personalised menu plans and catering support for special events and functions at the home, within the constraints of budget.

You will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the kitchen and formal supervision of kitchen staff. A quality kitchen experience has positive benefits on the physical and mental wellbeing of our residents.

You'll demonstrate the highest standards in cleanliness, food safety and hygiene and will always have the residents wellbeing in mind above anything else.


Job Overview
You will help our residents enjoy delicious, quality and nutritional meals they deserve. You will assist in the preparation of a range of meals to suit individual tastes and requirements.

You will have Chef experience (preferably gained in a care home setting) and will have what it takes to nurture, encourage and care for the residents making a meaningful contribution to someone's life, which is fulfilling, and requires flexibility and professionalism.


Responsibilities and Duties of the Job
Ø Creating a varied and nutritional menu in line with dietary needs and preferences

Ø Training and managing the kitchen team in prepping

Ø Managing all mandatory paperwork including: adhering to COSHH and HACCP guidelines, company policies and procedures

Ø Catering for special events or seasonal activities, such as summer fetes, Christmas parties and birthdays (as required)

Ø Ordering and procuring fresh food and other foodstuff supplies from Preferred Suppliers

Ø Regularly monitor stock control and to inform the Manager of any discrepancies.


Ø To ensure proper stock rotation of foodstuffs to minimise wastage, and to dispose of promptly any foodstuff found to be past "sell-by" dates for any reason.

Ø To prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, taking into account, the content, balance, colour and nutritional values of each meal

Ø To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with the appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations

Ø Ensuring deep cleaning schedules and rotas are completed appropriately


Ø To assist in the monitoring and recording of refrigerator, chiller and freezer temperatures in accordance with Environmental Health requirements.


Personal Responsibilities
Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by the management
