What you will be doing

Manage your own portfolio of insurance business, taking ownership of accounts in collaboration with the sales team.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with business partners and attending customer meetings.
A technical referral point for the BTE Underwriting department.
Identifying the learning and development needs of the BTE Underwriting department and implementing training programmes.

Who we're looking for

You will have a minimum of three years Underwriting experience and will be ACII qualified or working towards.
You will be extremely comfortable working with and manipulating numbers in Excel, to understand historical trends and future projections.
You will have experience training team members and acting as a referral point for escalated queries.
You will have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable assessing information quickly and effectively.
You will enjoy working as part of a busy team, and relish in swapping from one task to another.
You will therefore be organised and quick to prioritise your work as needed.

Why you should join our LEI Underwriting team

This is not 'push button' underwriting. The role requires true underwriting techniques such as calculating burning costs, using historical experience, analysing data sets and bespoke rating for products and endorsements.
The skills learnt in scheme and Delegated Authority underwriting are highly transferrable and can be used in other sectors, outside of LEI.
The Senior Underwriter will also underwrite Assistance classes such as Home Emergency and Motor Breakdown along with HNW/UHNW for prestigious insurer partners and household names.
Frequent interaction with London market/global reinsurers and the wider ARAG Group including the Actuarial department.
Face to face meetings with clients and business partners is encouraged. Great opportunity to build relationships with clients.
The Senior Underwriter will have a share of the top 10 accounts and will manage their own portfolio. They will also have exposure to rest of company.
ARAG is a solvent, profitable, familyowned insurer with ambitious growth plans for both the company and the Underwriting team.
Exams are fully funded. Employees have obtained qualifications with the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Institute of Leadership and Management.
Senior Underwriters have progressed onto Performance Analyst and Underwriting Manager roles at ARAG.
Employees who have left ARAG have gone into the following roles: D&O, EPL & Mortgage Underwriter, Delegated Authority Contracts Manager and other Conduct Risk, Claims and Underwriting roles.

What we offer

Monday to Friday 35 hours per week with the option to flex around 09:0017:00 and all flexible / parttime working options considered.
Work from home up to 3 days per week.
Minimum of 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option of buying an additional 5 days and carrying over.
7% Employer contributions in return for 2% Employee.
