Electrochemist - Coventry, United Kingdom - Agratas
Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrochemist to join our growing R&D team at Agratas.Working at the forefront of new battery technologies you will carry out pivotal development work on our cells; developing testing procedures, carrying out design of experiments, and analysing the data to influence R&D strategy.
Please note that this role is predominantly lab based, so will be in either Coventry or Birmingham.Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with Agratas' R&D team in collaboration with leading academic researchers.
- Develop electrochemical testing procedures to assess novel electrode materials
- Create, plan, and carry out Design of Experiments for assessing various cell development processes of Liion and Naion cells (coin, threeelectrode and pouch cells) via electrochemical characterization.
- Assemble coin, threeelectrode and pouch cell for electrode evaluation
- Assess and analyse electrochemical data; solve problems by studying and assessing data; and determining corrective actions.
- Rootcause analysis that correlates cell failures with issues incurred during cell development phase, including physiochemical and electrochemical characterisation methods.
- Complete projects by efficient time management, organisation of experiments and participation in group and project meetings, to achieve project deliverables.
Essential Experience
- Master's degree plus academic/industry experience or PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Electrochemistry or related field.
- Strong understanding of electrochemical principles, techniques and processes.
- Experience in drafting electrochemical testing procedures.
- Proficient in coin & threeelectrode cell assembly.
- Indepth knowledge of electrochemical testing of Liion and/or Naion cells, including chargedischarge cycling, differential capacity & differential voltage analysis
- Strong experience in scientific data analysis and interpretation.
- Good knowledge of materials characterisation (e.g. SEM, EDS, XRD)
Desired Experience
- Pouch cell assembly.
- Knowledge in Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS).
- Previous experience of working with Universities and/or Industry partners would be advantageous
