About the role:


As the Marketing Executive you will take ownership of all aspects of Holyrood Events marketing, creating and delivering impactful marketing campaigns that attract delegates and sponsors to our events.

You will lead on our data, and be confident live tweeting our events on-the-day for a combination of in person, hybrid and virtual events

Holyrood Communications includes Holyrood Magazine, Scotland's fortnightly political and current affairs magazine that keeps people informed with its award-winning and thought-provoking editorial.

Holyrood is frequently quoted within the Scottish Parliament as a source of reliable information and political debate. It is the most widely read publication amongst MSPs and is influential in their decision-making (source: Ipsos MORI).

Key Responsibilities:


  • To support the building of marketing campaigns, sales pipelines and new business revenue growth for Holyrood's events.
  • Work alongside the Director of Events and Operations to develop and execute marketing campaigns.
  • Lead on the development and maintenance of Holyrood's event web site.
  • Work closely with event producers and event partners to curate and deliver innovative and engaging thought leadership pieces, talking heads, research and other rich content for Holyrood Events channels.
  • Develop understanding of editorial pipeline to manage the creation of new content and take advantage of synergies between brands.
  • Working on ad hoc events, including administration, design and organisation of event space, and sales enablement.
  • Responsible for collating a content calendar to give an overview of projects across the Holyrood business.
  • Shared responsible for ticketed and sponsorship events meeting targets.
  • Supporting the sales team by drafting media packs and B2B marketing support.
  • Liaising with all departments across the business.
  • To abide by the Compliance Policies and Procedures of the Company, especially GDPR and privacy.
  • Take reasonable care of your own and other people's Health & Safety in the workplace.
  • Report all incidents and hazards in your work or in your work environment that may be putting your or anyone else's Health & Safety at risk promptly.
  • In addition to this you are required to carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by your direct line manager.

Direct/Indirect reporting staff

  • Indirect management of the Events & Digital Marketing Assistant, in conjunction with the Events Manager.

External Relationships

  • Third party suppliers, relationship marketing and media contacts.

Person Specification

Experience and Knowledge

  • A minimum of four years relevant marketing experience.
  • Methodical project management skills.
  • Experience in managing all deliverables and performance data and reporting for marketing, both internally and for the client.
  • Experience in managing multiple individual event budgets and reporting monthly.
  • Working knowledge of GDPR and privacy.
  • Understanding of SEO principles and implementation.
  • Experience creating thought leadership content for senior management audience.
  • Ability to assimilate complex, technical information and make it digestible.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders to deliver projects under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and proofreading skills.
  • An analytical mind that is comfortable with data segmentation.
  • Ability to adapt messaging to different audiences and intent levels.
  • Knowledge of public affairs, political and public sector.
  • Experience working with marketing automation platforms (preferably Eloqua).

Education and Qualifications Competencies

  • Education to degree level or relevant work experience in Marketing to a high level.
  • MS Office.
