Description
**As the NPD Technologist for Meridian, you will be responsible for developing new products from concept to launch and improving current ones. You'll be working on both product and packaging projects and collaborating closely with the Marketing, Production, Procurement, Technical and Planning teams.


Key Responsibilities / Duties:


  • Develop new products from concept to launch and work alongside the Project Manager to deliver via Stage and Gate process.
  • Create new recipes based on technical briefs, that meet nutritional, cost targets and project timelines.
  • Organise and attend factory trials and first productions to oversee the product scaleup and transfer of quality into the factory with the delivery team.
  • Generate product specifications and record all trials and results.
  • Responsible for performing shelf life analysis and testing of the NPD products.
  • Liaise with suppliers to identify new ingredients, and assess their functionality and cost. Ensure the safety of the supply chain.
  • Support the Marketing team to deliver artwork briefs, packaging specifications, manufacturing and QAS specifications.
  • Work closely with and support the Marketing, Technical, Manufacturing, Procurement and Planning teams. Input into ideation sessions from a culinary, technology and packaging point of view.
  • Be involved in research projects to identify key insights which can be leveraged into new opportunities.
  • Champion ongoing product consistency and maintain awareness of competitor activity.
  • Identify and recommend potential improvements to recipes and process efficiency.

Experience / Qualifications:


  • Ideally BSc in Food Science or equivalent.
  • Ideally, 12 years experience in an R&D or Technical function within the food industry.
  • Able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good numeracy and competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Full driving license.
