Your new role;

As the first seat in this department in Europe, you'll take on a specialist position working alongside the Fund's internal stakeholders and Senior Leadership Team in London.

Working with the European Investment teams, your work will involve both cyclical andthematic macro research, supporting local transactions;

  • Carry out cyclical, secular, and longterm thematic economic research.
  • Use this research to advise and support the Fund's decisions, across UK and Euroarea, for portfolio planning, as well as new and upcoming events that would affect any investments across our asset classes
  • Provide macro support for direct transactions in the US and Europe.
  • Contribute to the writing up of monthly strategy and investment research papers for internal committees
  • Take on additional research tasks as directed by Heads of Departments and sometimes the CIO
  • Develop, maintain, and add to all team reporting tools, from macro trends to financial markets


This role is based on site at London King's Cross Estate, one of the core assets of the Fund's global portfolio.


What you'll need

Culture is key at AustralianSuper, and we are looking for someone who is a team player that enjoys working in a high performing collaborative team.

As a Senior Manager within the team, you should have:

  • Significant experience as a Senior Economist, ideally with a core focus on UK/Europe
  • Current or previous experience working within an investment firm and/or banking institution
  • Passion for all areas of macro research and investments
  • Ability to work in a small team, whilst capable of autonomous working
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with an eye for detail and deadlines
  • A desire to work in a growing and changing environment as we build out internationally.
