Job summary

We are looking to take on a super reliable driver to help with the end of day process at Forest Dogs Land; to work with the daycare team to ensure all dogs are safely loaded into our vans and taken home at the end of their daycare session.

The role will also include more practical elements assisting the team in grounds maintenance and ensuring all the Forest Dogs vehicles are checked, clean and safe.

It is essential that you are comfortable dealing with a large groups of excited and playful dogs You must be able to remain calm in any situation to ensure the safety of all of the dogs at all times. You should also be happy and physically capable to work in any weather outdoors for long periods of the day (we are Forest Dogs after all)

Responsibilities

  • To ensure the safe intake and exit of dogs from the daycare.
  • To drive the dogs home in the Forest Dogs vehicles in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Maintain good levels of hygiene e.g. immediately collecting and disposing of faeces and cleaning areas of the daycare environment as required.
  • To communicate effectively with other staff to coordinate the dogs who need taking home with their belongings.
  • To build an excellent relationship with both dogs and clients when picking up/ dropping dogs off home.

Qualifications

  • No essential qualifications needed – basic training will be provided

Skills and abilities

  • Ability to navigate Sheffield and surrounding areas (with or without maps) efficiently, avoiding traffic to minimise transit time
  • Capable of hard physical work outdoors in all weather
  • Ability to represent Forest Dogs positively to the public and with visitors to FD facilities.
  • To be very well presented and have a good level of English to communicate effectively.
  • Full clean driving licence (for insurance purposes) and a range of driving experiences.

Knowledge and experience

  • Some knowledge/experience of dog health, behaviour and appropriate handling
  • Experience of driving a range of vehicles around Sheffield.
  • Excellent knowledge of Sheffield roads, short cuts, usual rush hour traffic and best routes between dog drop offs.
  • Happy to have a full DBS and reference check.

  • Enthusiasm and willing to 'muck in' to do all the (dirty) jobs required looking after dogs.
  • Extremely reliable, trustworthy and punctual – as owners and dogs rely on us
  • Good common sense and an ability to remain calm and focus on keeping dogs safe and well.
