Merrifield Consultants are thrilled to partner with one of the UK's professional bodies for science which has a worldwide membership of over 12,000.


We are looking for a proactive, energetic and well-organised
Operations Administrator to support the Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) in the administration and running of the professional body for science.

£30,000 per annum plus benefits

Location:
Hybrid - 3 days minimum requiredonsite (Central London) and 2 days working from home Contract: Permanent, Full-time


MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES - Operations Administrator
HR Administration

  • To undertake HR administration for core employee lifecycle processes
  • Recruitment administration processes
  • Prepare contracts of employment and offers letters (these will be templates, you will not be expected to write contracts)
  • Obtain and complete references and right to work checks
  • Maintain recruitment files in line with GDPR retention practices
  • Administer the starter, leaver and staff change processes, ensuring relevant departments are notified of staff movements
  • To act as first point of contact for all queries relating to HR
  • Be the lead point of contact with the outsourced payroll bureau, providing them monthly changes and checking reports before authorising payment
Operations Administrations

  • Assist in general administration duties across the GSL, and in support of the Director of Finance and Operations, where required
  • Dealing with cyclical and ad hoc data reporting and requests for information
  • Taking minutes of meetings as required
  • Answering administrative level queries
Project Work

  • Support with the transition to an outsourced payroll bureau
  • Support with the transition to a new HR online system
  • Lead on the scanning and digitisation of all paper records
General

  • Actively promote the core values of the Society whilst working towards achieving the strategic objectives of the Charity, with a particular focus on the impact of HR Operational requirements.

  • Proactive, selfstarter keen to learn, develop and improve all facets of the operations function
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to work accurately at pace when managing large volume administrative tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality within CIPD confidentiality code of conduct
  • A flexible and collaborative approach to team working
  • Selfmotivated selfstarter, able to work autonomously with minimum supervision
  • Proactive with the ability to manage activities, on an ongoing basis
  • Highly organised with excellent planning skills and an ability to meet tight deadlines
