Main purpose of the job
The Division of Biosciences Stores Facility provides an efficient service to all within the Division. The role of Stores Technician is a critical role for the business. The main purpose of the role is to support the day-to-day stores function for the Divisionof Biosciences.

To receive inward items, receipt on the college financial system and deliver to end users and/or to store as appropriate, to issue items from stores, log against relevant account codes and maintain inventory.

To maintain a supply of currentcatalogues to comply with procurement protocols.


The post holder will work to the Stores standard operating procedures and use his/her own initiative and judgement in prioritising tasks to ensure scope of service is met whilst referring complex problems or issues of policy to the Team Manager and membersof Academic staff where appropriate.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Recharging stock issued to other groups outside of the Division of Biosciences via eIDT.
  • Receiving, checking and receipting deliveries in electronic notification system and informing end users of deliveries.
  • Delivering stock to the end users where appropriate.
  • Restocking shelves and maintaining impressed stock systems.
  • Keeping the stores clean, tidy, well organised and free of possible tripping hazards.
  • Participating in periodic and oneoff stores stocktaking.
  • Clerical duties, such as filing and archiving stores paperwork.
  • Assisting in updating the stores SharePoint site.
  • Forwarding requests for customs clearance to the appropriate Finance contacts.
  • Arranging courier collections and returns.
  • General portering duties.
  • Actively participating in Faculty Finance Team workshops and meetings to develop processes and procedures to identify best practice.
  • Promoting and running recycling schemes.
