My client is an international electricity and gas company and one of the largest investor owned Energy companies in the world.

They play a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and North-Eastern US in anefficient, reliable and safe manner.


Job Purpose:

  • Support commercial activities on divestment programmes to ensure contracts are fit for purpose for transitional periods and post separation
  • Provide contract commercial expertise to project and service teams to facilitate the sourcing process, of information technology based contracts.
  • Take ownership of the contract(s), lead contract negotiations and drafting of contracts.
  • Handle contract fulfillment through the ongoing management and support of the contractual and commercial aspects, including change management. This includes managed service and individual supplier agreements across the global organization.
  • Analyze and manage (commercial) risks,and ensure contract and commercial quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide commercial support to divestment programmes, including:
  • Reviewing and analyzing existing contracts and agreements to determine treatments required to support divestment activities
  • Liaise to agree and action contracts treatments
  • Provide contract support, including:
  • Design overall commercial model (commercial terms and conditions) and where required ongoing governance processes.
  • Analyze and manage (commercial) risks
  • Negotiate contracts, including:
  • Plan and organize the negotiation strategy and lead the negotiation execution
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders i.e. professional departments and execute the contract review and decision making sub processes;
  • Analyze and manage (commercial) risks

  • Identify and report key issues to senior management;
  • Carry out contract due diligence analysis (i.e. evaluate supplier status);
  • Draft contract documents:
  • Prepare draft and final versions of main body, annexes and related documents for signing;
  • Coordinate the internal signoff process and closing of contracts in accordance with the authorization levels set;
  • Notify relevant stakeholders of the contract signing.
  • Contract and commercial management and fulfillment, including:
  • Design overall commercial model ongoing governance processes.
  • Manage and maintain appropriate contractual relationships to optimise contract value through a consistent, professional approach.
  • Deliver commercial and financial clarity for each supplier contract to ensure transparency of spend
  • Assist in the definition, implementation and management of contract and commercial management processes to drive consistency and efficiency across the IS and supplier organizations.
  • Ensure that the agreed governance processes are managed across the IS organization and delivering commercially as developed.
  • Develop and maintain effective and commercially oriented relationships with a wide range of vendors varying in size, geography, skillset and cost, in order to drive value through individual and collaboration of partner organisations.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Expertise in contract management of large enterprise wide IS Managed Service Agreements
  • A working experience in the at least one of the following industries: Software and Solution Delivery, Enterprise Services, Telecoms and Networks Services.
  • A good understanding of legal constructs in complex contracts and experience of contract interpretation and agreement.
  • Knowledge and experience of stakeholder management and relationship management building, driving commercial value and performance through major contracts
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading teams and influencing a contractor at senior levels, and gaining support and commitment from a wider operational group.
  • Knowledge and experience of negotiation and influencing stakeholders and suppliers
  • Ability to communicate with all levels up to senior management internally and externally within supplier organisations
  • Skilled at working with and through multiregional/global teams
  • Ability to define and measure benefits, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding ability to make decisions or recommendations on incomplete information
  • Knowledge of the Global IS Operating model and the key functions and interdependencies
  • An understanding of market/supplier dynamics in the wider IS market place
