Description

Job Summary:

Are you a proactive, organised and target-driven individual with a proven record of delivering effective and engaging training to a range of learners and the ability to support people who have multiple and complex needs?

If so, St Giles Trust has an exciting opportunity for a
Trainer to join us and plan and deliver quality training programmes to clients, peer advisors, staff, and other interested partners on a range of topics, including digital skills, as well as engaging and supporting individuals to complete their training programmes and progress onto further opportunities and employment.

About
St Giles Trust
An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need.

Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.

About this key role

Working flexibly as part of a larger Trainer and Assessor Team, you will liaise with St Giles staff and external partner organisations to identify and engage appropriate learners for each course, plus interview applicants, assess learning and other needs and carry out risk assessments.

You will then work with learners to produce and review realistic individual learning plans, providing one-to-one support as appropriate.

We will count on you to plan and deliver engaging accredited, assured, or non-accredited training programmes that fulfil the needs of St Giles staff, peer advisors, clients and other learners and to provide tailored guidance in person or remotely to individuals or small groups to keep the learners engaged on the programme.

Collecting feedback and evidence of the progress made by learners and undertaking the administration necessary for tracking learner progress are both key aspects of the role, as is ensuring you work constructively with colleagues to achieve project outcomes.

What we are looking for

  • Experience of working to targets and recording information and statistics to enable effective monitoring of performance against targets
  • Sound understanding of the issues faced by project participants in accessing and sustaining training or employment and how these can be overcome
  • Thorough understanding of the importance of quality assurance as it relates to training vulnerable adults
  • The ability to support and motivate learners with multiple complex needs
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging training sessions in person and online and to deliver digital skills training
  • Excellent interpersonal, prioritisation and communication skills, both verbal and written

In return, you can expect a competitive salary, generous leave allowance, staff pension, flexible working, a mentoring programme, advice and counselling service, season ticket loan and much more.

March 2023.
