The purpose of this vital role is to support Enfield residents with useful and relevant health information and to signpost local services as well as playing a key role in enhancing and coordinating an inspirational volunteer programme.


  • Improve and implement our information and signposting service.
  • Support and manage volunteers with engagement activities.
  • Research, produce and publish content that signposts local health information andhealth services for our communications channels.


As an Information & Volunteer Co-ordinator you will work as a key member our small Healthwatch Enfield team and will be responsible for the delivery of Healthwatch Enfield services and programmes on a local level as agreed with the Board and CEO.


We are seeking an individual who has experience of working with and engaging volunteers and optimising information and guidance services to help localresidents navigate the pathways to health and social care assistance.

Key Responsibilities


Overall purpose:

  • Coordinate and implement a consistent information signposting schedule to provide information for residents on local health and social care services.
  • Work with Healthwatch Enfield Manager to enhance and support volunteering andengagement activities.
Information


  • To ensure Healthwatch Enfield's website is up to date and provides useful and accurate information on local health and care services for residents and others as appropriate.
  • Lead in the production of external information and signposting materials and resources as appropriate, in particular for community engagement, workshops, and other public events (in collaboration with the Marketing Manager).
  • Take enquiries from the public about access to local health and care services, including how to make a complaint and how to access advocacy support.
  • Ensure all information collected through individual enquiries or entered onto the Healthwatch Enfield database and shared with Healthwatch England.
  • As appropriate, collect evidence of community-based concerns and priorities to feed into evidence of local people's experience of using health and care services for providers, commissioners, the Health and Well-being Board, the North Central London Integrated Care Board/System and local authority scrutiny committees.
Volunteer Co-ordination


  • Lead on the recruitment of Healthwatch volunteers promoting this through publicity strategies and campaigns to maintain a sustainable volunteering offer (in collaborationwith the Marketing Manager)
  • Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place, including risk assessments andvolunteer DBS checks. Maintain appropriate databases and undertake otheradministrative duties to facilitate volunteering and engagement.
  • Generate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions. Ensure there is support andtraining for volunteers as required.
  • Monitor, support, motivate and accredit volunteers and their work, and whereappropriate finding opportunities to celebrate volunteering.
  • Take part in 1:1s, and take up opportunities to learn within the team, organisation andexternally.
  • Organise and support the delivery of our statutory Enter and View duty.
  • Since job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the post-holder may be required toundertake other duties which are broadly in line with above key responsibilities.
  • The post-holder is expected to observe and comply with all Listen to Act policies andregulations, for example the Code of Conduct, Health and Safety, Data Protection, andEquality and Diversity.
Person specification

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Substantial experience of working with volunteers and engaging with them to deliver projects and develop skills
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Good oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage effectively witha range of stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of volunteers
  • Good up to date knowledge of legislation and policy related to volunteering
  • Able to compile and collate qualitative analysis to produce reports
  • Good knowledge of health, social care and community and voluntary services locally within Enfield
  • Discretion in the handling of sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience of uploading and managing content using a website CMS.
  • Excellent writing skills in order to write website content and social media content to ensure that local patients, residents and carers are consistently signposted to local health information and guidance.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to be proactive in developing relationships with other community partners and statutory providers across Enfield
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the values of Local Healthwatch
