An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Systemic Family Therapist to join our specialist community child & adolescent mental health team in Poole on a part time (30 hours per week), permanent basis.

You will work autonomously providing a highly specialist Family Therapy provision to young people and their families referred to the service, as well as being confident in consultation, supervision and training of colleagues.

Dorset HealthCare is the first mental health trust providing community services in the South to be given an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) - and one of only a small handful nationally.

We currently provide the following CAMHS services across Dorset:

  • 6 Community CAMHS teams
  • 1 Urban CAMHS Gateway team (assessment and brief intervention service) which is looking to expand to offer a panDorset service
  • 10 Bed adolescent inpatient unit
  • Dedicated CAMHS psychiatric liaison services within 3 acute hospitals
  • Out of Hours crisis service
  • Discovery College
  • Peer specialists working within our community and inpatient teams.


As an integral member of the wider team, you will work both clinically with families, but also bring expertise in supporting the team to ensure that systemic thinking and understanding lies at the centre of the clinical service.


You will work alongside other senior clinicians to offer consultation, supervision and training to the team (and wider service where appropriate), and with the clinical team leader and manager to promote a high standard of care is delivered to children, families and the wider community.


  • You will be able to provide evidence based assessments and treatments within a variety of settings for children, young people and families who experience a range of mental health
difficulties that require intervention with Tier 3 services

  • You will be able to create assessment formulations, hypothesis and treatments and plans which are
regularly reviewed.

  • You will be able to provide specialist family therapy assessments and interventions on a time limited
basis

  • You will be able act as a key worker where appropriat, and provide high quality and timely clinical record keeping.

Employment in this post requires a Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

The DBS levies a charge of £40 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments.
