Job Purpose


The main purpose of this job is to fulfil the role of assessor for Adult Care Worker Adult Care Worker (Level 3) assessments for Oxford International Pathways Centre.


Main duties and responsibilities

Assessor Responsibilities

  • The course assessments will be conducted onsite, or remotely, on dates agreed with employers and/or providers if appropriate. Independent assessors will record and submit the assessment outcomes, with clear justifications for the grading decisions. Assessment activities will be quality assured by OIPC quality assurance representatives.
  • An independent assessor means that those making a decision on the competency of the student have nothing to gain from the outcome of the assessment. To maintain independence within the scope of this programme, an independent assessor can only undertake assessments of students, with whom they have no conflict of interest.

The assessor will:

  • Take part in regular training and standardisation activities, associated with the role of independent assessor
  • Maintain and provide evidence of ongoing, relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Follow the protocols set out in OIPC's specifications, assessment materials and quality assurance protocols, relating to the assessments
  • Maintain servicelevel agreements with regards to responding to assessment planning, operational activities, reports and submissions of assessment outcomes
  • Report all risks and issues encountered during the assessments to OIPC, including any suspected malpractice/maladministration
  • Ensure all EPA reports and assessment evidence are high quality and recorded accurately
  • Support OIPC, if necessary, with any appeals from students, regarding assessment decisions
  • Allow additional time for travel, when making assessment arrangements
  • Raise any conflicts of interest, including in relation to the independence of assessment
  • Ensure that any personal actions are completed, as required by OIPC
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of OIPC's assessment activities

Person specification

Statutory requirements

  • Eligibility to live and work in in the UK
  • Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent
  • Native or near native level of English speaking and writing.
  • Knowledge of prevent & safeguarding

Qualifications

  • Qualified with a relevant health and social care qualification at or above the level they are assessing (Level 3 or above for this IEA role)

Experience and knowledge

  • Current relevant occupational competence within the workplace
  • Knowledge and understanding of the adult care sector
  • IQA qualified, assessor qualification
  • Experience of leading meetings/structured interviews/discussions
  • Experience of complying with quality assurance/regulatory requirements
  • Evidence of commitment to maintaining CPD, in line with new requirements and assessment specialism

Skills and abilities

  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • Very good digital skills: good knowledge of Microsoft office with good IT skills;
  • Ability to understand and respond to the individual needs and circumstances of employers/apprentices

  • Have a positive and proactive attitude to work.
  • Demonstrate high levels of professionalism.
  • A drive to work collaboratively with fun, likeminded people and contribute to team success.
  • To be constantly aware of improving standards and adapt to them where possible.
