_Introduction_
Derwent Rural Counselling Service (DRCS) is a charity founded in 1989, offering psychological therapies to the population of Derbyshire.
We are now the biggest provider of counselling in Derbyshire and operate as both a private service and a sub-contractor for Talking Mental Health Derbyshire IAPT service.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we seek to provide ease of access for clients across the whole of Derbyshire within our own premises.
In addition, we aim to deliver accessible therapy options at a time convenient to service users which may mean providing appointments outside normal working hours, and at weekends.
Alongside our supporting TMHD deliver their IAPT service, as a not-for-profit organisation we also receive client referrals via our donation service, helping and supporting those who may reside or work within Derbyshire or neighbouring counties.
Role Overview_
As a self-employed Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist the post holder will work on behalf of DRCS providing time-limited interventions within our IAPT contract and also offer interventions and support to clients outside of this contract.
The post holder will work with clients who have a range of mental health problems, including anxiety and depression, for which counselling is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
-Key Requirements/Purpose of the Role_
Based at any of our sites across Derbyshire, the post holder will work with people from different and diverse backgrounds age 16+, and should be committed to equal opportunities.
We also offer talking therapies for children and young people and are very interested in talking to qualified therapists with experience of working with this group of clients.
Main Clinical Duties of the role include but are not limited to:- Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with the services' requirements
- Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions
- Adhere to referral protocols to and from the service
- Formulate, implement and review effectiveness of therapy for clients, in line with evidencebased practice and informed by NICE guidelines
- Use highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties, including working with interpreters
- Conveying counselling and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language
- Work in a collaborative manner to build resilience and hope focussing on recovery
- Adhere to the standard DRCS client/therapist contract and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient
- Complete all requirements relating to data collection
- Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols
- Work closely with DRCS, utilising a stepped care approach.
- Undertake risk assessment during your episode of care for individual clients and facilitate appropriate onward referrals as per the stepped care model
- Liaise with other health and social care staff from a range of agencies in the care provided to clients.

Experience_
The Counsellor must have experience of delivering time-limited interventions as well as be able to demonstrate they can manage their own caseload.
