The Role


The Cyber Security team within the Aviation Security domain provides effective and proportionate regulation of cyber security risk to the UK aviation industry.

The team's primary objective is to meet UK, European, and international aviation regulatory obligations for cyber security.


The Cyber Security Support Officer role sits within the Cyber Security Policy team that leads the development of the strategic direction of Cyber Security Policy in UK Aerospace.

The team contributes to the delivery and development of the Oversight and Certification cyber frameworks to satisfy the UK and worldwide aviation cyber regulatory responsibilities.

The team also provides a direct links to the Department for Transport, National Cyber Security Centre, Other Government Departments, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and policy development are fully communicated.

The Cyber Security Support Officer role will provide administrative and operational support to the wider team. Ensuring that deliverables across Oversight, Certification, and Policy are achieved in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. The role actively supports and directs the general administrative direction of the team. In addition to being responsible for managing public and stakeholder communications.


Core Accountabilities

  • Act as a point of contact for industry, stakeholders, and colleagues through management of the Cyber mailbox
  • Actively contribute to the delivery of the UK's National Cyber Security strategy through support to the Policy team in the development of future cyber regulations, standards, and guidance
  • Support the Cyber Oversight team in administrative and procedural tasks to ensure good governance and consistency in data
  • Oversee and action work requests received from team members relating to equipment and supplies
  • Be the primary contact for the onboarding of new staff including the procurement of equipment and resources
  • Provide support to colleagues carrying out individual projects
  • Manage administrative accounts for regular training providers
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the interests and requirements of all parties are met in an environment of mutual respect and cooperation
  • Provide daytoday administrative support to the wider Cyber team
  • Act as the Secretariate for internal and external meetings
  • Maintain the Cyber Security SharePoint site
  • Responsible for the planning, communication, and facilitation of the Cyber Security Industry Working Group (CSIWG)
  • Support the Aviation Security Assurance team with the development and maintenance of Quality Management Systems and Assurance Objectives.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of work instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Working with the Certification and Oversight teams to extract data for assurance purposes

About You
To be considered for the role you will need to be able to:

  • Self-motivated and willing to work flexibly using their initiative, reaching sound judgment but able to identify when to seek guidance
  • Able to manage different workstreams to differing timescales
  • Confident in interacting with CAA colleagues across the domains and at all levels
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • The ability to interpret different systems to provide data on request
  • Knowledge and understanding of the implementation of management systems with experience in implementing policies and procedures
  • A good understanding of data protection principles
  • Experience working in a regulatory compliance or project managementbased environment
  • A competent level of working with Microsoft IT packages and the ability to learn and use bespoke systems for the role. A working knowledge of Power BI would be advantageous
  • Able to work collaboratively, with a flexible, adaptable work ethos, and particularly the ability to operate in a multidisciplined team
  • Must be able to attain and maintain the required security vetting to SC standard
