Starting Salary:
£21,575 with the opportunity to progress to a maximum of £24,054 (pro rata for part-time)


Hours: 37 hours per week


Contract: 10 months fixed term till the end of March 2024

Job Duties:


An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer to join the Older People and Sensory services for the West Hertfordshire catchment area.

We are looking for a hardworking, organised and self-motivated individual who will work with various internal stakeholders to support our client debt related services as the demands continue to increase


Working as part of a team you will share the responsibility of carrying out early prevention work to ensure income generation and resolve finance and debt recovery issues.

The role will include of activities such as.

  • Inputting of data and data cleansing on our debt management systems
  • Communicating with service users and/or their representatives to discuss initial early debt cases
  • Assisting the team's Officers in dealing with complex debt


We are looking for a confident individual, capable of using their own initiative and completing tasks within deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Ideally, you will have some awareness or willingness to learn about our client group.


You will also need to be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to change your approach depending on the audience.

This is vital given you will have contact with many internal and external stakeholders. You will also be highly motivated, enthusiastic and organized to provide administrative support to the Business Support Team.


You will need to possess:

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of numeracy
  • Good organisational skills and an ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work to procedures and guidelines
  • Flexibility and problem solving
  • Selfmotivated, professional, and approachable
  • Willing to undertake a variety of finance/administrative tasks, operating within departmental policies and procedures.
