About the Role:


As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll be instrumental in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with SEMH needs.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering oneonone support to students, fostering their social and emotional development.
  • Collaborating with class teachers and SEMH specialists to implement personalized support plans and effective behavior management strategies.
  • Assisting in classroom activities, ensuring the successful participation of students facing SEMH challenges.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students to support their overall wellbeing and personal growth.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Prior experience in a school or care setting, working with students encountering social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • A solid understanding of various SEMH conditions and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect empathetically with students to enhance their social and emotional development.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy, driven by a genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH challenges.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to cater to the diverse needs of students across different age groups and abilities.
  • A valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
