Coeliac UK currently has an exciting opportunity for a
Health Policy Lead, to
join our team in High Wycombe, with the possibility to regularly work from home by prior agreement with your line manager. You will join us on a
full time,
Maternity cover basis for 12-14 months. In return you will receive a competitive salary of
£31,500 - £35,000 per annum based on knowledge and experience.
Coeliac UK represents over 60,000 members providing information and support to those affected by coeliac disease or following a gluten free diet.
We also campaign on behalf of all those living with coeliac disease and undertake research into the causes of the disease.
The Health Policy Lead role:
As our
Health Policy Lead, your role will focus on developing the Coeliac UK health agenda across the UK, working with the NHS, healthcare professionals and healthcare bodies.
Key responsibilities of the Health Policy Lead:
- Contribute to the development of the evidence base to inform charity policy and the charity's business and strategic planning in conjunction with the Evidence and Policy team
- To critically review, appraise and translate the evidence base ensuring it is uptodate, quality assured and transferable to all necessary areas of work whether for use internally or with external stakeholders.
- Manage the intelligence gathering, horizon scanning of the health landscape
- To work together with the Evidence and Policy team and our expert advisers to develop and promote the work of the charity within the healthcare setting
- Review and develop training resources for healthcare professionals in line with the charity's business and strategic aims
- To promote cross team working to ensure that proactive communication of the evidence base underpins charity services and activities
- To manage designated projects and work in line with charity business and strategic aims and in conjunction with other members of the Evidence and Policy team
- A key role in the planning and delivery of the charity's annual Research Conference (HCP training day)
- To represent the charity speaking at healthcare conferences, exhibitions and local groups; professional or patient focused
- To attend organisation and external activities, as required
- To produce and contribute to articles in health and consumer press, as required
- To have a continuing plan for personal development
Essential experience, skills and knowledge required for the Health Policy Lead role:
- Educated to degree standard in a relevant discipline
- Understanding of scientific evidence base and research, with an ability to critically review the scientific literature
- A motivated individual with initiative and a structured approach to work who has good organisational skills
- Self motivated and able to work without close supervision
- Excellent written, communication and presentational skills
- Confident proof reader
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- A team player
- High levels of numeracy and literacy and IT skills, digitally savvy
- Not essential but helpful, CRM and website content management experience
