Altum Consulting is proud to be working with a which is also one of the UK'S Historic Art Institutions based in London helping them recruit a highly motivated and proactive Financial Controller on a 14 month contract.

This is an interesting leadership rolemanaging a small team and liaising closely with senior stakeholders across the organisations to ensure strong financial process are in place.


The Financial Controller will be responsible for:

  • Supervising the maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes for the organisation and the Company Limited (trading subsidiary).
  • Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Responsible for the monthend process within the organisation
  • Coordinating the yearend process including statutory accounts and external audit, including completion of the statutory accounts.
  • Liaising closely with relevant income generating departments over contract compliance and debt collection.
  • Ensuring that the financial policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and kept up to date.
  • Overseeing the financial systems (including PS Financials and Soprano), ensuring they are effective for the requirements of the finance department and the wider organisation.

The ideal Financial Controller will:


  • Experience of managing AP & AR staff.
  • Experience of conveying analytical information, concepts, ideas, and technologies effectively to senior stakeholders, both written and verbally.
  • Proven ability to write reports, policies, and procedure documents.
  • Have experience with monthend accounting and reconciliations (essential)
  • Be experienced leading and supporting on financial yearend tasks
  • Ideally be familiar with public sector or charity accounting (desirable)
  • Be a qualified or finalist level accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent essential)
