About the Role:

You will be a member of a responsible team in charge of the day-to-day care of young people with Emotional and/or Behavioural difficulties within a Children's home.

We are looking for people whose skills will shine We recognise that no two applicants are the same BUT we are looking for applicants who are the 'right fit' to work in Children's Residential Care to support young people who are healing from trauma.

Why do children come into the care system?
The most common reason is neglect and the chaotic environment within the the birth family. It's important to understand the experiences of the young people you will look after. Chaotic households often lack stability and consistency and these can have a profound impact on a child. It's likely that there were no real routines, discipline or care.

It is likely they will not have had their emotional needs met, they were not fed when they were hungry, not tended to if they were hurt or not comforted when they were feeling sad.

This lack of empathy and care can have serious consequences.

Please note, we regret that we are not considering applicants from a Health and Social Care Background (Adult Care), Teaching Assistants or Nursery Nurse Assistants.

Ideally,
applicants will have worked in any of these roles and sectors; - Youth and Community Work, Qualified Teacher, Child Protection, Family Support Worker, Youth Justice, Sports Coaching, Housing/Homelessness, Drug and Alcohol Services (this is not an exhaustive list)

Applicants must have had some direct work with children and young people, ideally between the ages of 8-25.
Young people in our care are healing from trauma. This role requires you to have a high-degree of patience and tolerance.
