HOURS:
Monday to Friday 37.5 per week


Job Purpose:

Undertake a range of healthcare assessments and provide appropriate care/treatment working under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional. Work collaboratively with the Practice Nurses, GPs and Pharmacists, providing a holistic approach and maximising each patient contact.

Focusing on patient-centred care while providing treatment, disease prevention, health screening, and immunisation, together with the education necessary to improve health and manage long-term conditions.

Strive to improve standards of care and be involved in identifying practice population needs. Always work with accuracy and in accordance with practice, local and national procedures, processes, and protocols.

  • Immunisations Covid Vaccinations, Flu Vaccinations (including Nasal), Pneumococcal Vaccination and Shingles Vaccinations

  • Supporting the Nursing Team with any complex patients and ensuring continuity
  • Supporting the Duty Doctor with treating & monitoring acutely unwell patients, including competencies in anaphylaxis treatment, resuscitation techniques, nebulisation therapy and chaperoning

Clinical Administration

  • Documentation
  • Maintain accurate patient records on EMIS Web and process incoming documents through EMIS Web and Docman.
  • Ensure PSD's and National Protocols are read, signed and filed appropriately. Create and update records ensuring accuracy and maintaining information validity.
  • Creating and sending relevant referrals and liaising with the administration team to follow up on appointments or advice and guidance.
  • Docman filing, coding and actioning any relevant incoming documentation, including diabetes retinal screening results, appointment DNA's, foot examination results, home blood pressure readings, pharmacy and other healthcare provider vaccination documentation, vaccination documentation from abroad, request for information and any miscellaneous inbound documents.
  • Specimens & Results take appropriate samples, create test requests, send reminders to patients, log and dispatch specimens to the lab and process any incoming lab reports and results.
  • Recalls support the Clinical Performance team with recalls via multiple methods for immunisations, health screening, chronic disease reviews and safety netting.
  • Maintaining templates and letters, as well as data quality coding amendments.
  • Attending the weekly recall meeting to liaise with the Nursing, Pharmacists on recalls, targets and performance.
  • Reporting assisting the performance & compliance team with any relevant reporting and auditing.
  • Flu/Covid assist the management team in setting up clinics, preparing equipment and information packs, and assisting with vaccination administration and patient flow.
  • Support with the housebound vaccination programme where appropriate.
  • Uptodate knowledge of National Health programmes and services.

General Duties

  • Stocking maintaining stock levels in clinical rooms, including minor surgery stock and reception stock where necessary. Management of the stock room and ensuring stock rotation. Removal and disposal of out of date stock. Passing invoices and delivery notes to the relevant person/team.
  • Ordering ordering clinical stock and information, documenting quantities and order numbers for reference. Managing and sourcing incoming invoices and delivery notes. Maintaining and recording up to date account details and information.
  • Equipment locating, labelling, cleaning and replacing surgery equipment and ensuring equipment is readily available to the practice including the removal and replacement of sharps bins. Arranging and managing annual PAT and Calibration Testing. Managing the equipment available for loan to patients, arranging and documenting collection and return, labelling, managing patient information and recording documents.
  • Information & Promotions updating and sourcing practice information, available to both patients and staff, ensuring compliance. Displaying any promotional materials and maintaining information displays in the practice.
