About the role


Working within our Independent Statutory Service, our Independent Chairs are responsible for chairing statutory Child Protection Conferences, Child in Care Reviews and assisting with our LADO service.


What will you be doing?


Chairing of child protection conferences and related quality assurance activity in line with child protection procedures and ensuring the voice of the child is central to the safeguarding arrangements for them.

Contribute to service and directorate wide quality assurance activity to support learning and development across the workforce.

Supporting the team to carry out our statutory functions including cover for the Local Authority Designated Officer role.

You will be managing a caseload of children ranging from new-born babies to young adults. The needs of the children and young people will vary.


You will need to have the skills to identify areas of drift or delay for children, to communicate effectively with the multi-agency network, and to escalate any issues of drift or delay directly to senior managers where necessary.

We require someone who is flexible, adaptable and able to travel to meetings.

The office base is Bowthorpe Community Hub in Norwich however meetings take place all over the county, so your own transport is required.

You will be supported in your role through regular 1:1 supervision and monthly team meetings/development sessions.
