Adults Training Officer

Cardiff


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Training Officer to join Cardiff Social Services to deliver training to adults social work staff across the Council.

This position will initially run from May 2024 for - 6 months pending a permanent appointment. The role is not currently advertised externally. This is a full time position, offering hybrid working. Typically 3 days on site, 2 from home. You will l be based within the training department at County Hall. Pay rate for this role is £21.98 PAYE or £28.04 Umbrella.


There is currently a fixed calendar of training events scheduled but once these dates have lapsed you will have responsibility for managing the training calendar and working with social work teams to identify areas of training and development of staff and service needs.

All material has already been produced. Training will be delivered both face to face and virtually.


To be considered for this role you will need to hold a social work qualification and have experience within adults services.

You will need to have robust knowledge in adult safeguarding and direct payments as well as the Social Services and Wellbeing Act.

We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and who can start as soon as possible. Current postholder will be leaving on 6th May.

  • Further duties and responsibilities include:_


The Training Officer will be responsible for: Planning, co-ordinating and delivering a range of training and development provision for staff, carers and volunteers in Adult Services, partner agencies and others working with Adults in Cardiff.


1. To ensure that training and development provision, which is required by Welsh Assembly Government Regulations, Guidance and National Minimum Standards, is planned, co-ordinated and delivered to Adult Services staff and carers.


2. To jointly consider with senior managers and other appropriate staff in Adult Services the training and development implications arising out of new policies and procedures.


3. To prepare annual training plans and to contribute to the Social Care Workforce Development Programme Application for Funding and to the Monitoring Report.


4. To contribute to the management of the relevant training budgets and to monitor expenditure.


5. To contribute to the joint planning, management and delivery of specialist training programmes throughout the whole of Adult Services.


6. To design and deliver, using a variety of methods including coaching and mentoring, a programme of training and development, which meets the requirements of both internal staff and external partner agencies and, when appropriate, to commission external trainers.


8. To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of adult services training provision in conjunction with senior managers and other relevant staff.


9. To engage with senior managers in order to ensure that training and development activities are an integral part of the Adult Services Annual Service Plan and the Social Care Workforce Development Plan and that they support the achievement of Service Area and Corporate aims and objectives.


10. To contribute to project work within Adult Services.
