An outstanding opportunity has arisen to join the Section of Public Health in the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR).

As an experienced and passionate public health researcher, you will support a Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) led by Doncaster Council and funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to develop public health research infrastructure and capacity that will support improving population health and reducing health inequalities.

You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary, cross-organisational team based in Doncaster Council, the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University.

You should have experience of designing and undertaking collaborative public health research in community and/or local government settings using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies; experience of co-production of research with community and/or local government partners and an appreciation of wider public health policy and practice is desirable.

You should possess strong spoken and written communication skills for liaising with multiple partners and external bodies. Excellent interpersonal skills are also essential. You should be able to independently plan and deliver work with mínimal supervision and direction.

This role provides excellent opportunities to develop your career and work with multidisciplinary colleagues in Doncaster and academic teams in both Sheffield universities to develop a programme of research and knowledge mobilisation to have a direct impact on the health and wellbeing of the population of Doncaster.

You will work with local authority colleagues and other stakeholders and participate in generating research impact within a supportive, flexible and friendly environment.
