Job overview:


  • Oldham Care Organisation is looking to recruit highly motivated Senior Clinical Fellow to join our team within the Accident and Emergency Department.
We are a friendly, well organised, busy, forward thinking and supportive Emergency Department.

There are currently fourteen Emergency Medicine Consultants, 32 Junior Medical Staff, (including foundation and specialty trainee's level 1-6).

The Emergency Department has a multidisciplinary team consisting of a Lead Nurse, Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 24/7 RAID practitioners, Therapy & Social Work team and 106 other staff (band 2-7).


As a team, we have extensive experience of supporting a wide range of clinical staff and will provide you with a clinical supervisor/mentor and support to attend relevant teaching as required.


Main duties of the job:


The posts are intended to provide you with:

  • Experience in Emergency Medicine
  • Opportunity for you to take some time out of formal specialist training

  • Opportunity to gain experience in audit, clinical governance and quality improvement
  • Opportunity to gain experience in point of care ultrasound in the Emergency Department
  • Experience to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine
  • Participation in the 24 hour Emergency Department rota Pay Elements according to GWS
  • Experience within Paediatric Emergency Medicine
  • 12 months (ideally) or 6 month fixed term posts commencing immediately

Qualifications, Registration and Courses:


Essential criteria:


  • MBChB, or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration with License to practice and no restrictions
  • ALS (Valid; in date and facetoface; online only courses don't qualify)

Experience:


Essential criteria:


  • 2 years / more full time hospital Emergency Medicine experience (or comparable experience gained in parttime posts)

Desirable criteria:


  • 6 months / more UK or Ireland NHS experience at SHO level or above, preferably in acute specialties

Knowledge & Skills:


Essential criteria:


  • Clinical Audit & Quality Improvement experience (meaningful and personal involvement)

Desirable criteria:


  • Teaching experience (other than informal bedside teaching)
  • Demonstrate commitment to career in Emergency Medicine with understanding of NHS Emergency Medicine
