Gateshead Psychiatric Liaison Team are looking for experienced nurses to join the developing and expanding team that are integral to meeting the holistic needs of patients presenting to acute hospitals.


The role of a Psychiatric Liaison practitioner is incredibly varied, from assessing and supporting new mothers with psychosis to working with patients who have co-occurring mental health issues within the acute hospitals.


We work with patients within the Emergency Department and across all other departments within the Acute hospitals which are also regional centres for many specialities.

We work with patients from age 16 upwards with opportunities to work with adults and older age.

Our Team members are from a variety of backgrounds including adult and older adult inpatient wards, neuropsychiatry, substance misuse, crisis
teams, community and Learning disabilities.

There is a strong focus on education, development, and learning, allowing you to build on your skills, experience and to develop
your career. There is a considerable amount of support and supervision offered. With extensive inductions, modelling, and peer support.

Do you like autonomous working within a supportive team, assessing, signposting, advocating, and offering interventions within a variety of departments without the formality of care co-ordination?

Liaison staff providing comprehensive biopsychosocial mental health assessments.

We have a supportive MDT each day,

Providing psychological interventions to patients within the acute hospital

Liaising with professional's involved in the person's care.

Providing training and education to acute staff.

We provide a 24 hour service with shifts arranged flexibly to
support work life balance.

To be responsible for the Assessment and Management of casework of service users who have substantial and complex needs.

Provide specialist clinical advice to Service Users/Carers, staff, statutory agencies, 3rd sector partner agencies and the public.

In collaboration with the Service User and Carer where appropriate, develop Recovery and Wellbeing focused Care Plans, ensuring regular
reviews to monitor progress and adapt Care Plan as necessary.

To consider Carer needs and ensure Carer and family are involved in Care Planning

Where appropriate to deliver evidenced based Clinical and Psychologically based Interventions.

The post holder will work as a member of the Multi-disciplinary Team ensuring that high quality individualised care is delivered which ensures
safety and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximising independence.

Coordinate Treatment Planning & Interventions, Reviews and Discharge Planning.

Provide clinical supervision to staff as delegated by Clinical Lead and Team Manager.

To provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
