Expectations
To provide H&S Leadership to the Woodsmith project Above & Below Ground construction teams.
Be at the forefront to raise the profile of H&S across the construction teams to deliver objectives of the project.
Key aims and objectives
- Deliver the expected level of H&S with the project H&S framework.
- Embed the principles of 'Life' and "Safety 365" into the Woodsmith project delivery.
- Ensure that H&S Risks are determined and reduced to a level that is as low as reasonably practicable.
- Support the Project in delivering the expected level of H&S performance.
- Delivering the project in line with Worley's vision and values.
- Maintain positive relationships with Anglo American Representatives and Project Management to ensure Anglo American and business needs are understood and achieved
Prime responsibilities and duties
- Embedding and deploying the aims of the Worley and project H&S Policy into the Woodsmith project, within the H&S requirements specified in the contract.
- Liaise with Risk Management to understand risks associated with the project, with a view to developing controls to mitigate against risk items
- Support the implementation of the Project Execution Plan
- H&S (To align with Anglo American H&S Plan requirement) and associated documentation in consultation with project stakeholders and ensure work fronts meet the minimum H&S standards of the Project.
- Develop, monitor and deliver the H&S Assessment and Site Inspection Plan.
- Review all project documentation (as per the document distribution matrix) to ensure adequate coverage of underground H&S considerations.
- Liaise with Project R3 and ensure cross functional engagement.
- Support the compilation of project H&S performance reporting to the Project Management Team and the Project Assurance Director
- Participate in project start up work (Good to Go & Kickoff Process) and ensure contractors are clear on Woodsmith Project H&S standards of work whilst ensuring responsibilities, objectives and targets are agreed and understood by all stakeholders.
- Embedding technical safety, health, environmental, security, design, constructability reviews, and standards into relevant project activity and to verify that safety issues are fully addressed.
- Facilitate implementation of H&S element of the Project H&S processes, utilize H&S tools to assess risk and improve effectiveness of the H&S element of the project H&S systems in place; including regular Observations (HSLA), Toolbox talks, training sessions, promotion of safe work practices and ensuring interest & awareness of H&S is maintained at all levels of the project organization.

Qualifications / Training
Essential:
Academic:
- Technically Qualified Professional in H&S
- Member of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety
Desirable:
- ICAM, RCA or other industry recognized incident investigation technique
- Qualified auditor of safety and environmental management systems
- Injury Management and Return to work
Experience
Essential:
10 years major project experience - min
- 10 Years working in the H&S and/or underground mining space.
Desirable:
Mining, Construction, Oil and Gas or other high risk heavy industry related experience
Proven track record of implementation of H&S norms and principles across complex and diverse work fronts
Previous experience with Worley projects
