Job Description:


  • Reports to an Account Manager and Account Director
  • The Senior Account Executive's primary responsibility is to service the clients under the direction of the PR Account Manager, delivering positive PR coverage, but is able to do so with much less management and direction than an Account Executive
  • Additionally, the Senior Account Executive assists the Account Manager in delivering the PR and social media strategies, with a focus on implementation of tasks, e.g. media lists, writing press releases, selling in, but does this to a high standard with fewor no edits or corrections needed
  • A Senior Account Executive will lead by example, inspiring other Account Executives to achieve their high standards
  • A Senior Account Executive will support Junior Account Executives, helping them to get through their to do lists and delegating small tasks to them
  • Senior Account Executives demonstrate the ability to take on more account planning responsibilities, showing awareness of the wider implications of coverage and understanding the need to hit monthly targets
  • Senior Account Executives should manage their own workload thoroughly and effectively, flagging to Account Managers when it looks like things are not going to get done, or if it looks like targets are not going to be met
  • Senior Account Executives produce a high standard of work at all times, paying attention to detail and removing the possibility of careless errors

Key Responsibilities
For the companies clients and projects, the Senior Account Executive is expected to:

  • Draft press releases and features which need zero structural amends and few or no corrections, e.g. typos
  • Be able to consistently write to an accurate and professional level, using appropriate tone and language to suit each client, their industry and audience
  • Secure press coverage for clients, and also have an awareness of whether an account has enough press coverage / is on track to meet monthly objectives
  • Follow the direction of the Account Manager and Account Director
  • Possess a can do attitude, willing to roll their sleeves up with a wide range of tasks from admin through to support office functions, e.g. coordinating shopping, ordering stationary, etc.
  • Identify relevant proactive media opportunities, also recommending strong ideas, recommendations or synopses for these opportunities
  • Monitor all Response Source queries, identifying relevant opportunities and flagging them to the team within their deadlines, also recommending strong ideas, recommendations or synopses for these opportunities
  • Take part in newsjacking activity, every week, for every client unless told otherwise ensuring your own and junior members of the team's daily media monitoring is happening, and using this to identify opportunities to place comments, reangle existing newsstories or creating new stories (of any kind) which are both relevant to emerging news events and tie into the client's objectives and overall strategy
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with appropriate members of the media
  • Read the trade and press and national media to build an awareness of wider issues, and also articulate a broader understanding of the wider issues at play surrounding client sectors and media news values
  • Not only accurately coordinate WIPS and write contact reports but also demonstrate a good understanding of where in the monthly or quarterly cycle activity sits, taking decisions to help hit account targets
  • Attend networking events, seminars and conferences, including outofhours, as required in order to maintain personal professional development and to build networking skills, contacts and new business contacts
  • Plan for client meetings and take clients through significant sections of an agenda during client meetings
  • Contribute to the new business process by suggesting campaign ideas and writing up ideas for proposals to a professional standard
