Environmental Sustainability Lead Adviser


Location:

Salary:
£45,000 per annum - dependent on skills and experience

What you'll be doing:
  • Provide competent and specialist environmental sustainability advice, coaching and support to Line Leaders, enabling them to effectively manage environmental impacts, risks and opportunities within their area(s) of responsibility
  • Conduct appropriate levels of assurance activities in support of the effective deployment of the SHE management system, ensuring it continues to meet the requirements of ISO 14001 and ISO 5000
  • Provide assurance for determining compliance with relevant legal, BAE Systems Operational Framework and SHE Management System requirements within a business or site(s)
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations of incidents, identifying root causes and lessons learned to prevent reoccurrence
  • Promote continuous improvement through effective communication, coaching and mentoring of line leaders, employees and contractors.
  • Design and deliver workplace environmental sustainability programs, communications and initiatives. For example with a focus on Net Zero, Waste Hierarchy, climate risk, BAE Systems Sustainability Themes

Your skills and experiences:


Essential:


  • Experience of working in complex environments where strong collaboration, influencing and motivation skills are the key methods for implementing environmental sustainability improvements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SHE Management Systems and assurance processes, including ISO and ISO 50001

Desirable:


  • Membership of a recognised professional institution for the specialist environmental area, is required. For example, Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

The SHE Team**:


As a Subject Matter Expert within the SHE team, you will be ensuring the business complies with the Company SHE Policy and all relevant SHE regulatory requirements.

This will include working in cross discipline teams across the Naval Ships to deliver specified packages of work/ improvement projects.

The role will support Line Leaders in their deployment of the Environmental policy, management systems and objectives for their area(s) of responsibility.

The role may involve travel to other sites.
