Vacancy Description

The Education Mental Health Practitioner role is part of West Berkshire's multi-disciplinary trailblazing Mental Health Support Team (MHST) and is a full-time post.

The MHST is a multi-disciplinary team that offers a range of services under the Thrive Elaborated Model.

The team includes a range of early intervention workers comprising of Primary Mental Health Workers, Education Mental Health Practitioners, Wellbeing Outreach Workers and an Assistant Psychologist.

The team has specialist support from a Senior BHFT CAMHS Practitioner and is led by Senior Educational Psychologists.

The team is based in Market Street in Newbury but the post holder will be working across schools involved in the MHST project.

The post holder will be expected to work as part of a dynamic mental health team in a creative environment where evidenced-based interventions, new ideas, ways of working and supporting young people are actively encouraged.

This approach requires flexibility and adaptability, and above all a passion for working and building effective working relationships with young people.

The post-holder will employ a range of evidence based interventions for common mental health problems via direct individual and group support.

Support will also be provided to parents.

A committed team worker, the post holder will carry a caseload and work on their own initiative. Time management skills are essential given the variety of this challenging yet rewarding role.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year.

Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council's corporate buildings.
